Prof Kun-Pyo LEE

Prof Kun-pyo Lee is Dean of School of Design, Swire Chair Professor of Design, and Alex Wong Siu Wah Gigi Wong Fook Chi Professor in Product Design Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). He brings to PolyU his experience from KAIST as a Professor in the Department of Industrial Design and the Director of the Human-Centered Interaction Design Lab. He served as EVP Chief Design Officer at LG Electronics and has been consulting for international corporations including Johnson & Johnson, Honeywell, and Samsung. He is President Emeritus of the International Association of Societies of Design Research (IASDR).
Prof Lee is a pioneering figure in establishing rigor and relevance of user-centered design, interaction design, and UX design. He has published extensively in more than 80 international journal publications with 200+ successful conference presentations. Over the past 30 years, he has been invited to speak at more than 100 top venues worldwide. He served as Editor-in-Chief of the Archive of Design Research (Elsevier) and is the Editor of top tier journals: Design Studies and International Journal of Design. He is an International Advisory Board Member at several leading institutions across the USA, Japan, Europe, and China. He has received many design awards, including the Korean Presidential Medal Bronze for his outstanding achievements.
