AiDC ─ Artificial Intelligence in Design Consortium
Great ideas come to life when great minds come together. The Artificial Intelligence in Design Consortium (AiDC), an initiative of the Laboratory for Artificial Intelligence in Design (AiDLab), seeks forward-looking individuals who recognise that the convergence of AI and design will be one of the key drivers in the fourth & fifth industrial revolutions. AiDC aims to build a vibrant and well-connected community to fuel technology transfer and so bring about groundbreaking advances in a range of industries. This aim will be achieved by empowering members of the AiDC to access the unprecedented opportunities arising from the integration of AI and design.

Focusing on real-world application, AiDLab is in the process of building bridges to connect our research with a diverse range of industry sectors and with society generally, in an attempt to bring benefits to both by meeting their needs in sustainable and intelligent ways. AiDLab welcomes partners globally to collaborate in developing and diffusing knowledge in academia, industry, and society. By drawing on the strength that comes from collaboration, we can identify and capture the opportunities that arise by bringing AI and Design together to serve industry needs and tackle social challenges.
Commercialisation Opportunity: The following technologies from AiDLab projects are ready for commercialisation. Please feel free to contact us for discussion if you are interested to explore the collaboration opportunities.
Drawing on the strengths of PolyU's world-leading research in artificial intelligence and expertise in industry-related design, and the RCA's globally unique status as a research-led postgraduate university of art, design, architecture, and related disciplines, AiDLab has the capacity to empower enthusiastic researchers so that they can flourish and make an impact on industry and society by driving innovation and creating novel solutions to some of the world's most pressing problems.
AiDLab welcomes inquiries from forward-looking individuals who share our passion for AI and Design and who would like to add fresh vision and impetus to our pursuit of excellence in research and development. To work with us, please check here.
AiDLab offers research postgraduate programmes leading to the degree of Master of Philosophy (MPhil) or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (HKPolyU). Our dynamic and interdisciplinary teams of academics from HKPolyU and RCA work collaboratively to nurture young research talents in the areas of AI and design. Post-graduate students will be able to conduct their research at AiDLab, a 10,000 square feet purpose built laboratory located at The Hong Kong Science Park and the HKPolyU main campus.
Student places for postgraduate research programmes are subjected to a highly competitive selection process. Priority will be given to applicants with 1st class Honors degree for the Mphil programme and a Master's degree from a university ranked in the top 100 in the QS rankings. Interested applicants should first contact prospective supervisors listed as project leaders on this website prior to formal application.
