CulturaAI AI in Cross-Cultural Motif Exploration Exhibition

Beyond the creative outcomes, CulturaAI was also a learning journey in design collaboration. AiDLab collaborated with Temasek Polytechnic School of Design, Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Code-Create, the initiative brought together 20 DES AI Interest Group students from Singapore with Hong Kong designers Elmer Ho and Liz Mak, supported by PhD researchers Zhu Jia Yu and Zhu Shu Min. Designers and students experimented with motif design using AI-based Interactive Design Assistant for Fashion(AiDA) 3.0, a proprietary Gen-AI platform created to accelerate motif ideation and collection development.

Mentor-led case studies further showcased how AI is being applied in fashion today, offering practical insights into design innovation. For students, this experience expanded their perspectives on how technology can deepen cultural storytelling, opening up fresh possibilities for heritage-inspired design.

From October 14 to 20, 2025, our design collaboration was showcased at the Fashion Gallery of Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The event commenced with an opening ceremony led by Prof. Calvin Wong, CEO & Centre Director of AiDLab and Ms Elaine Ho, Director of School of Design at Temasek Polytechnic who delivered the opening speech. Hong Kong designers and represented students from Singapore presented their creative concepts, final designs, and engaged in a panel discussion regarding the challenges they faced during the design process.
